FAQ

Q: How does Bookfaced work?
A: To better understand how Bookfaced works, read our introduction.

Q: How does the Money Back Guarantee work?
A: For a full description of our Money Back Guarantee, go here.

Q: What is the fee structure?
A: We do not use a fee structure. We charge a fixed rate of 8% per transaction. This commission is automatically collected when one or more books are purchased. There is a $1.00 transfer fee when moving money from a sale to PayPal.

Q: How can I pay for items?
A: Currently, we support PayPal accounts and debit/credit cards. Funds from sales can also be stored in your Bookfaced account and used to purchase items.

Q: When do I setup a meeting?
A: You can only arrange a meeting when you have purchased a book, or when someone has purchased a book from you. There is a 5 day window starting from the moment of purchase to establish a meeting date and time. If no meeting is established by the time this window expires, then the purchasing party is completely refunded their money.

Q: Why should I list my book to sell at a later date?
A: When selling a book on Bookfaced, there is the option to list a book that won’t immediately be for sale. This feature enables the seller to list a book while it is still in use during an academic term. Once the specified selling date is reached, the book is then available for purchase. For example, a student could list a book on Bookfaced anytime during a term, but specify that the book will not be available for purchase until the day of finals.

Q: What is the Books Needed area of my account for?
A: Anytime there is a button next to a listing, it means that the book will be available for purchase at a later date. (This date is provided in the ‘Available’ column on the Book Summary page). The Books Needed area is where users can create a list of these books, so they may be notified when the books become available for purchase. Once the button is clicked, the book will be added to a user’s Books Needed list. When it becomes available for purchase, users with it in their Books Needed list will receive a notification e-mail explaining how to purchase the book.

Note: When books become available for purchase, they are bought on a first-come first-served basis, and more than one person may be waiting on the same needed book.

Q: The book’s seller has a 0 feedback rating, should I still buy?
A: The average Bookfaced user may only sell a few books each term, and we have a growing number of new users who haven’t yet received a feedback rating. Unless a seller has negative feedback, they are likely safe to buy from. Remember, if a seller fails to make delivery, we will refund the buyer 100% of the purchase price.
